Being on the very tight budget and with our student loans looming over our heads I have finally decided to start using coupons. I have thought of doing this for years, but have never really understood how? So I found some blogs...The internet is so amazing isn't it? Anyhow it's kind of exciting, BUT it's amazing how crazy some people go!!! Like this for instance. . .
Am I way off base to think that I can't imagine carrying THIS into Safeway? I bet her weekly budget for groceries is like $20, and she probably manages. Maybe one day I'll get to this point, who knows, but for now I can't imagine. I'm still at Stage One: The Envelope Stage.
Do any of you go crazy over coupons? I excited to see this start working, and reducing our grocery budget. Some of my favorite blogs I check regarding coupons are:

I have found that if I shop sales and plan out meals that I save a bunch. The coupons often are for name brand products that I don't use often enough. So I buy sales and off brand product and seem to do well with out many coupons. (plus I love winco!)
This is the same way I have always thought - that Winco beat coupons on name brands - but if you shop sales, use store coupons, and item coupons a lot of times it's near free. Anyhow, I'm finding it's a lot of work - but I'm giving it a try.
I clip coupons from the paper, then forget to take them to the store with me. I have a nice little coupon sorter, not much bigger than an envelope. It's like one of those accordian folders.
I do clip coupons, but most of the time the coupons aren;t for things I buy. I have a hard time figuring out meals to plan for. I have a friend who will buy $300 worth of groceries and only pays like $60 bucks for them! That's what I want!! BUT how do you get that? You have to clip coupons for months before you would get to that point it seems...what to do, what to do!
we just started doing this too! alan found these awesome sites: couponsuzy.com and http://www.thegrocerygame.com/ - we're still trying to get the hang of it, but last night we bought like $80 worth of groceries and only spent $27! it was awesome. and i don't think we bought anything name brand. the grocery game site is awesome because you can print off a list of all the stores in your area and what is on sale there for what price and what your savings is. it also tells you where to find the coupons - in the paper, online, etc. it is way nice! anyway, good luck! it's way fun just to see how much you save!
oh and the grocery game site tells you to just buy what is on sale and then plan your meals around that. it's actually easier than it seems. and it's also awesome for food storage. like last night we bought like 3 bags of sugar for super cheap. we also bought theraflu medicine for like a $1.15 each. so a lot of it is about stocking up and stuff like that.
I really want to try and do this too...I think it would be fun. I love going to the stores that print out how much I save at the bottom...I get so excited. I'm going to have to check out your links and get motivated and organized.
