I forgot to add text before I hit publish on the last post...duh!! This was about 10-20 min after Lucy said she did NOT want to take a nap. She was NOT tired. All she wanted to do was play...so I told her she had to play quietly in her room, when I checked back she was dead asleep. I thought it was so cute I had to take a picture.

A new hobby??? Maybe not.
I used to think of myself as crafty, and kind of witty when it came to arts and crafts...that is no longer the case!! I've noticed that over the past few years I just am not into crafts much anymore, I mean unless you count cutting and gluing with my two year old. I am really, really good at putting beads on pipe cleaners to make bracelets!! Don't get me wrong I get really excited about Super Saturday at church or doing a craft here and there, I'm just not "crafty" anymore.
I took a cake decorating class with 2 of the gals from church. I was inspired by my friend Michelle in Portland who makes BEAUTIFUL cakes - and when I say beautiful, I mean it! Anyhow, I've learned that maybe cake decorating is not one of my talents, and I'm okay with that. Really, I am! I just think it takes so much time to make something that everyone is just going to eat. Maybe I'm just selfish in thinking that if I'm going to spend all day making something I want it to be something to be enjoyed and ohhh'd and ahhhh'd over by everyone who sees it. Well, except lasagna...I spend all day making lasagna, but that seems so worth it! Maybe it's just that I've learned I don't like cake or frosting as much as I thought I did? Maybe I'm just not patient enough? Anyhow...the class was fun, and I'll probably take the next course too, but don't expect a cake just because it's your birthday - I'd rather make you a lasagna!!
Here is a picture of my very first cake...I think I needed a class on just how to color the frosting - it was never right! I wanted it to be a soft yellow...not neon, but thankfully kids don't care. It was Karli's birthday the next day so we all enjoyed a bright yellow birthday cake!
Look it even matches her shirt! I didn't plan that either - CrAzY!!!
This is how I improved over the course. I did miss one class while I was in Seattle, but it's okay! This is how my cake looked when I was 1/2 done, but I thought it needed more ...
So I added more flowers and the border. The purple flowers are called "drop flowers" they are SO easy!! When I make a cake again - I think I'll use a lot of those!! I took the cake to a friend and then made cup cakes today for the kids and did drop flowers all over the cup cakes - they turned out pretty cute! I will definitely use the simple skills like that again, but if you want roses on your cake I'll give you the number of one of the other girls in my class!!

Then it was off to Seattle...
It took me longer to download these pictures, but we went to Seattle right after the coast. All Lucy cared about was her cousin Melia!! We got to play with Melia and then when it came time to leave Lucy just kept pointing behind us and saying "I want to go backwards, I want to go to Melia's!" We were lucky enough to be there for Aunt Laura's birthday too, which was just fun!! We love Bert, Laura, Melia and Baby Kyla and thank them for hosting us for a couple days!!!
These pictures were taken at the Children's Science Museum at the Factoria Mall.
These pictures turned out kinda cool - the whole room was "wallpapered" with reflector paper.
This was in the little store there - Lucy & Melia loved playing with everything there.
Here Lucy was up in the tree house, and I was below. The girls just climbed up and down that tree house, it was so cute! Nick was chasing them playing monster and they'd climb up and then climb down - it wore everyone out!!
This is Melia and Lucy in the music room. They had just finished jammin' on the drums!
We were all done at the Science Center and headed over to the pet store - so much fun!!

Off to the coast
We spent a few days visiting Nick's parents who live at the Washington Coast. They live near Cape Disappointment if you know where that is. Oh my goodness, it was so beautiful! Nick's dad is park ranger so they live in a State Park! They have the best house in the place in the way back and up high so we had deer coming out to play just feet from us and we saw bunnies too. Lucy was in heaven! She is such an animal lover!! Aunt Anne came to visit us there too and we spent 2 days just sight seeing, spending time on the beach, and just relaxing. It was a really nice time! Here is our daughter turn model! Holy cow, I've never seen her model like this before, but Grandpa can get her to do anything! Grandpa & Lucy had a blast trying on all of the different hats in this one coastal shop!
Here is my HOT husband and SUPER CUTE daughter flying a kite! That was cool. This kite was so easy to get up, and keep up!
And this is how we spent our evenings! I wish I would have gotten a picture of the view from their place. It's breathtaking. We would just sit out on the front porch and read and relax....ahhh! Life doesn't get much better then this!

We've lived here two years and have never been here!!

Seriously, I can't even believe it myself! Kamiak Butte is only about 20 minutes away from us and we finally made it there today! It was perfect weather, and the park was awesome! We packed up dinner (thank you Safeway) and headed out. When we first got to the park we were the only people there and it was so nice. We picked a table right by the play structure so Lucy could just play and play...she had a great time! We'll have to head out there again soon!
Oh, by the way, Lucy picked out her outfit all by herself! Her favorite phrase the last couple weeks has been "I can do it all by myself" I'm sure most of you reading this can relate. Most of the time she can too. I may not have put that skirt with that shirt, but hey, they're both pink! She's getting pretty good at figuring out what "matches". She has all the little Princess Polly Pocket dolls and their shoes have to "match" the dress their wearing. Yes Bekie, she finally got the shoes out "all by herself" and I've let her keep a couple pairs out. They are just so stinkin' small! Obviously not designed by anyone who actually has children!

4th of July~`

We have to be the worst family on the planet when it comes to taking the camera anywhere! We went to our friends house for a BBQ (Thank you Jessica & Chad), it was so much fun just sitting around visiting. They have a fabulous yard and the kids loved climbing all the rock walls! I have to say, Lucy was pretty good, she was climbing up a vertical wall much taller then herself! We need to get that girl in gymnastics!
As it started getting dark we walked over to Sunnyside Park which is where the BIG show is here in town. Even though we live in a pretty small town, they do a pretty good job! Our friends Chris, Sharene and their two girls were with us the whole time. It was so great to watch the fireworks with Lucy. She had a ball and was so excited at each burst of color in the sky! Of coarse we left the camera at Jessica's house and didn't even take it to the park...we are so lame!
