Here we come!

Tomorrow morning Lucy & I will wake up way-too-early to head off to the airport.
At 5:30am we'll rush to park the car, and carry all of our luggage into the airport.
At 6:40am our plane will take off.
After a layover in Seattle we will arrive at the Orange County Airport at 11:15am.
I will go get my baggage, curse myself for packing too much and trying to take a stroller, 2 suitcases, a carry on and a three year old!
I will try to find someone who looks friendly to ask where I catch the shuttle to take us to our hotel.
I will breath in the warm air (it's not really hot there right now, dang it!), and enjoy my week FAMILY vacation in...
DISNEYLAND!!

I'm a big girl now. . .

I have been putting off getting Lucy a new bed because her crib (yes, she is 3-1/2 and still in a crib) fit great in that room. It also had storage under it, and if I took it down then where was I going to store it... and then what if I got pregnant and then we had to put it back up. . .so I've been thinking about it for a long time. I wanted to get one of these beds. . .

Isn't this one just beautiful, although totally not me at all.I love the white one.Oh, and come on this would be adorable!

We aren't students anymore but we can't spend two grand on a Lucy's bedroom set either! So I put a "WANTED: BUNK/LOFT BED" ad on craigslist. I had seen these types of beds on craigslist here and there but I was never the first person to email so I thought maybe by doing the "WANTED" that maybe someone would contact me before they posted it. Well, it took awhile but it happened! I got one! I had a lady email and say that she was looking to sell her set and buy seperate beds for her kids now. She asked how much I wanted to pay. Don't laugh, but I didn't want to/couldn't spend more then $300 and I told her that. I got it for $250!!
This is our new set minus the bottom bed which will go in storage until a date way off in the future. I love the color of the wood. The only colors I would have preferred over this would have been white or black. It is a totally solid piece of furniture too, I love it. It has the storage we need in her room too. Under her bed is her little house with her kitchen, doll house & dress up/princess clothes.
It's been a hit with all of her friends too. Claire is the funniest. When I had her & Lailie over I told Claire I thought she was so lucky that she has such a cute baby sister..."Yeah, but Lucy is lucky because she has a bunk bed!" Oh my gosh, I laughed at that one! Then later I overheard her and Lucy talking about how they should be sisters so they can have bunk beds, and then Bekie & I can be sisters and have bunk beds and then Brett & Nick can be brothers and share. . .Oh my gosh I am laughing out loud just typing this out! Good thing Nick or Brett don't read my blog! I love Claire! Nora calls it Lucy's bed in the sky. I'm just glad that she's finally out of her crib, it was a little embarrasing.

Good Reads & Exercising. . .

Even if you don't think you enjoy reading these are books I think anyone can get into and enjoy. I am addicted lately to an Author named Shannon Hale. I stumbled upon her because her book Princess Academy is the book club book for our ward. I thought I'd pick it up at the library and see if it was something I could get into. I LOVED IT! Since then I've read several others of her books, and love them as well...I've actually had several people ask about good books and thought I'd post some of the books I have really enjoyed...(in no particular order). Uglies is a trilogy, and Hunger Games will eventually be a trilogy with the second book coming out September 1st.

I just finished Book of a Thousand Days last night and will start Goose Girl today or tomorrow. I'm sure there are others that I'm just not remembering right now...and of coarse there is the Twilight series which I really enjoyed, I just figured you don't need that as a suggestion on your reading list.

Oh, I don't know how to neatly add pictures - that is why I generally center them above my text, but I'm adding too many to do that this time, so if it's a messy post then I'm sorry.

Oh, as a side note...I just bought 3 new workout DVD's...I should get them in the mail soon. Jillian Michaels? I don't have TV, and so I don't watch Biggest Looser, although I have seen it years ago. I used to watch it when I was at the gym. I'm kind of scared - is it going to be way beyond me and be way too hard? I guess that's the point huh? To push you beyond your limit...I didn't want to buy the book too, so I'm on a wait list at the library...I'm number 5 on the waitlist! So. . .does anyone local have this book I could borrow? I just want to look at the recipes and shopping lists, then if it's worthwhile I'll buy it. I would like to do the 30 days, see if I can stick to it. Believe it or not I used to work out a lot, I loved working out, couldn't go a day or two without hitting the gym, but things change...I wish a gym here had affordable cycle classes I think I would get back into that really easily. It is starting to warm up and I'm excited about that, I love being outside walking/jogging...but I need it to be a decent temp, I'm a total baby when it comes to the cold.

Painting our place

We are planning on painting our place soon, really soon...here are some pictures, I'd love to get your opinions...There is the first one that is our inspiration, I love it!! Then a picture of our place (not a good one!).

This is our inspiration - but of coarse our house is not near this cute...but I can hope and wish! Isn't the door just fabulous? And the green with the yellow - Gosh, I love it!
This is our actual house...see...not that cute, but we're working on it. This is actually a pretty old picture, we've done some landscaping since this was done.
This is one of our color choices we like...in the actual color swatch of paint it looks darker then it does on my computer. You have to imagine it on a 1971 duplex though, sorry they didn't have that as an option :)
This is another one of our color choices we like, notice the yellow door with the cream trim. In the actual color swatch it is a bit darker then it looks on my computer.

Nick & I really like both of them, and although we feel like we've made a decision I thought I'd throw it out there for the blogging world's opinion.

I'm so crafty (ha ha!)

So I've been crafty lately...I'm not a perfectionist so I am not generally good at crafts, or sewing, or. . .well, we will stop there. I saw the pattern for this doll... the picture below is the pattern, I have not made it yet!
But I know I can't just go from hardly every sewing to sewing something cute...so I worked on the bear pattern as practice and just used fabric I already had...this is how they turned out. The first one I just did buttons for eyes because I had used an extremely thick fabric for the face and couldn't embroider the face on.

I made so many obvious mistakes on the bears because of my personality to "get things done". I need to just slow down and pay better attention to what I am doing. I think once I start on the doll I will do much better.

I also have been wanting to make hair clips for Lucy because I just can't ever find any that I think are cute, that stay in her hair, and are afforable. So I finally bought a box of 70 clips and a couple yards of ribbon, got out my tacky glue and my glue gun and went to work...I'm make some to give away too, these aren't ALL for Lucy!

What do you think of the butterfly clips? These were my first attemps.
I'm excited to get new ribbons and try again!
Oh, and the red flowers with the diamonds - Love them!!
She actually has a couple outfits they match perfect! I wish I could find more felt flowers, I may just have to buy some online! Okay, Well once I finish a doll that I'm not embarrassed about, I'll post a picture!

Leg Warmers

My (birth) Mom made these legwarmers for Lucy - aren't they just the cutest thing ever!! Pair it with some 80's velco tennis shoes and a zipper hoody...and ahhhh I can't stand how cute she is! I think every where we went she got comments - I love them as much as she does...she wears them all the time.
Thank you Oma!!!

This is me, can't you totally tell?

Isn't this picture so cute? I swear Lucy drew it and brought it to Nick & I saying "Mom, this is you!" She signed her name and everything. I was impressed by how much her stick figures have improved in the just the last couple weeks. I know most of you will be bored by this post - but come on - she is so cute!! And didn't she make me look Angelic?
