This is a surprise post to publicly tell Kim how much I love her. Today has been a busy day for her as she has cared for 9 children from 9am to...well, there's still kids at our house. To top it off it's not exactly the best time of the month for her, if you know what I mean. Don't get me wrong she hasn't complained, I just know I would have been charged with child abuse if I had been in her shoes. I love you very much Kim!!
Saturday was just a fun day for our little Mower family! We started the morning out at the Farmers Market over in Moscow and Lucy saw lots of big dogs. Then we went to the Appaloosa Horse Museum over in Moscow because they had horseback riding for the kids. Lucy was SO excited about this! She had to wear her pink skirt, at breakfast she said "I want to show the horse my pretty pink skirt!" And you know the first thing she said when she got on the horse? "Look at my pink skirt!" Nick & I thought that she may get scared once she got on the horse, but she didn't even think about it! The guy put the helmet on her and lifted her up and she grabbed on and looked as though she was the Queen of Egypt. It was so cute! She was so proud of herself the whole day! Then later that night we went to our friends house who had baby kittens. Lucy played hide and seek with the kittens running around for as long as I would let her! She just loves animals! At dinner she said "They have lots of animals here dogs, horses, kittens..." It was just a FUN day for all of us!
Yesterday Lucy & I went to swimming class. The class she was supposed to be in was canceled so they let us go in the more advanced class. Lucy pretty much clung to me the entire time. Then after class was over we went to the baby pool and played for another 40 min. We practiced kicking, and paddling, and blowing bubbles. She does great as long as she can touch! I know that as we continue going every week that she will get more and more comfortable.
Since she did so great I asked if she would like a treat, of coarse she said "yes!". I asked her what she wanted and she said she wanted "Candy Store"! Ever since we went to M&M World in Vegas she calls M&M's "Candy Store" and they are her favorite candy - I think it's so cute I just had to share.
We have a lot of yard work to do on our little duplex to make it something we're proud of. Nick & I had a goal to finish the front yard on Memorial Day. It took longer then I thought it would, but we got it finished thanks to Nicks dedication to me! The yard used to just slop down to the sidewalk and was just dirt from about where the grass ends now. We have cleaned up the grass quite a bit, and Nick put in all the rock wall and border last summer. Up by the house is a border with river rock too...it looks a lot better! Next is the back yard and then PAINT the place! I wanted a Navy blue the same as Nick's brother's house up in Alaska with white trim and a white picket fence and big bold white trim around the windows. We will probably do a boring tan color just to cover up the peach and leave the brown trim. It may not be as cute, but it's practical and this is just an investment property after all right?
Lucy was so cute the whole day by either helping or sitting in the rocks with the hose turned on a little bit and some pails...I mean what kid doesn't like water and pails right?! I'm glad we got it all done on Memorial Day because it was the last of the nice days here.
I don't have any video on my computer, we keep all that stuff on "the mac", but Nick posts some stuff on youtube for family so I'll just post the link...it's pretty cute! Lucy knows all the signs for to both of the songs, but gets too excited when I get the camera out...anyhow here it is...

I remember as a child that I loved the game of Life! It was just so much fun! So we pulled it out of the closet last night for Family Home Evening and set it all up (which takes forever!) and Nick & I played while Lucy put all of the little people in all the little cars and drove around on the board with us. I rolled mostly 8's and 9's so it went by really fast. I didn't even get to have any kids!! Anyhow, I don't think we'll be playing it very often. Maybe once Lucy is old enough to really play we'll pull it out again. Although Lucy wanted to pull it out again tonight so she could play with all the teeny tiny people...I have a feeling most of them will end up in the vacuum sooner then later! She also wanted to get the board out and when I pulled out she got so excited! Man, I love being a parent! It's so much fun watching your kids get so excited about the smallest things.
I have a friend who has a timeshare that we were able to use in Las Vegas, so we took advantage of Nick's slow semester and took a LONG road trip! It was so much fun! Lucy became a pro at getting undressed, putting on her swim diaper, her swimsuit and bringing Nick or I the sunscreen! It was a hoot! We spent a lot of time at the pool! We all had a great time just being together as a family ~ with no stress of jobs or school, it was just perfect.
